The aims
1

Increase participation, contribution and confidence in STEM subjects at school

2

Enhance understanding and awareness of STEM careers, particularly in the maritime sector

3

Empower young women to make informed choices about career paths

4

Demonstrate the long-term impact of a one-day activity model

The impact

1,400

1,400 girls from 90 schools took part alongside maritime role models from 100 companies

70 %

70% felt inspired to think differently about their future careers.

88 %

88% recognised that there are many opportunities for women in STEM

94 %

94% of teachers felt the day positively supported their curriculum

“Our girls were saying they didn’t think they would be able to do the activities because they were worried that they didn’t understand enough but by the end the girls were showing others how to programme the robots.

The day helped them realise that with perseverance and through the growth mindset session, they can learn new things.”
